Where Am I
show people where you are

A simple way to privately share your location. Where Am I is an iPhone OS application that creates a Mail message that contains a Google Maps link to your location. You address the message and send it. The default text can be customized in the Settings app allowing you to send mail in any language.

Works best with iPhone 3G. Accuracy may depend on location and network availability.

customize

Its easy to change individual messages by simply editing them in the Mail app before you send them. But its also possible to change the default text for all messages.

localize

To contribute a localization for a language supported by iPhone OS, fetch this example strings file and follow the directions. When you're done with the translation, mail the result to [email protected] as an attachment.

For this to work your language must be listed on the page in the Settings app where you set the phone's language (Settings-> General-> Language). The languages not yet supported are: Japanese, Dutch, Italian, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, and Polish.

If you also send me the UDID of your iPhone or iPod Touch, then you can test the app before I add your localization to the store.

problems

If your phone is in an inconsistent state you might not notice until installing a new app or using the location feature. Try rebooting your phone by pressing the power button for a few seconds and then slide the button to power off. Turn the phone back on and you should be ok.

To report problems, mail [email protected] with the type of phone and the messages you see on the screen.
